Site Description

High mountains with many streams draining into Wandamen Bay and Umar Bay. On both sides of the Peninsula are broad mudflats exposed at low tide, important as wintering stations for palearctic shorebirds.
Beach vegetation : 1,590 ha.
Moist lower mountain forest : 77,910 ha.
The eastern shore is uninhabited, but the western shore contains several settlements.
Principal vegetation: Forest and shrub vegetation/beach vegetation. Some Sago swamps to the north of lake Jamur and near the promontory of Wandamen Bay. |
