  Site Description  
  Little is known of this mangrove island except that it is reported to have freshwater lakes and breeding colonies of large waterbirds including Milky Stork. Inland the island consists of peat forest. Tidal variation is approximately 2 - 2.5 m. Principal vegetation: Mangrove, mainly Rhizophora and Bruguiera.

  Pulau Betet is situated against the coast of South Sumatra, approximately 5 km from the Jambi border.

  This site falls within the proposed Sembilang Nature Reserve (SUM73). In October 1984, more than 1,500 migratory waders were observed at the east cost of the island. The area is said to hold breeding colonies of large waterbirds, including the Milky Sto
