Site Description |

After draining the tectonic basin above Koromotantu, the Laa valley opens into a wider alluvial plain where it merges with the coastal plain of the Tambalako river. There is 2,400 ha of mangroves, 1,200 ha of perennial swamp and the remainder is seasonally swampy alluvial forest plus 3,000 ha of peatswamp forest.
Principal vegetation: Freshwater swamp forest, Peat swamp forest, open swamp growth, mangroves. Some settlements. |
