Site Description
The reserve consists of two parts: Gedang Seblat, an old protection forest of the Barisan Range; and Danau Menghijau, a small lake with many species of waterbirds, though numbers and species are unknown. The area contains rhino, tigers, elephants and, reputedly, the mysterious animal/hominid, "Orang pendek" (perhaps a variation of the so-called Yeti of the Himalayas). |

Site Location |
SM Bukit Gedang Seblat is located on the Jambi/Bengkulu provincial border, east of the coastal settlement of Ipuh. Together with Bukit Kayu Embun Game reserve (to the northwest), these two protected areas situated along the Barisan Mountain chain represent the southeastern extension of the Kerinci Seblat National Park (SUM31). |
