  Site Description  
  Topographically the area can be divided into the undulating to hilly to montane eastern part and the (smaller) flat and swampy western part. The reserve includes the entire limestone Blambangan peninsula, the whole Granjangan Bay/coastal area and about 20,000 ha of open lowlands were once very important for the populations of large mammals, but has now been cleared and converted to commercial timber plantations. The wetlands include mangrove swamps and turtle nesting beaches, and the lagoons are important for waterbirds. Principal vegetation: Freshwater swamps: Gluta renghas, Alstonia angustifolia. Mangrove swamps: Nypa fruticans, Rhizophora sp., Avicennia marina, Sonneratia ovata and Bruguiera sp.
