Site Description

A mangrove area with some (soft mud) mudflats. The mangrove forest fringe ranges from 200 - 500 m wide and consists mainly of Avicennia marina at narrow sections and Rhizophora sp. at the wider sections. Tidal variation is 2 - 2.5 m.
Principal vegetation: Avicennia and Rhizophora forest. |

Tanjung Jabung is located on the east coast the site runs along the coast for approximately 12 km to the west of the mouth of Sungai Berbak, and approximately 15 km south of Tanjung Jabung.

In 1986 a total of about 400 large waterbirds were observed, including 10 species, including 245 Milky Storks. |
