Site Description

A swampy coastal area bordered by a fringe of mangrove forest of at least 17,500 ha and backed by freshwater swamps. The area contains a variety of wildlife including swamp birds and Proboscis Monkeys.
Principal vegetation: Mangrove and freshwater forest. |

The site includes the proposed nature reserve (Silvius et al. 1987), which mainly comprises mangrove forest (17,500 ha) and freshwater swamp forest. Giesen (1996) stated that the site is managed as production forest. |
