A small island in the Pulau Banyak ('many islands') group, with some surviving beach vegetation and lowland forest. The beaches are important nesting grounds for sea turtles. |

Pulau Bangkaru lies off the north east coast of Sumatra, 15 km south west of Pulau Tuangku, between the major islands of Simeulue and Nias.
